In this post, we present a brief overview of our recently published book chapter titled “The Effects of Humane Entrepreneurship on Small, Medium and Micro Enterprises’ Performance”
The entrepreneurial orientation strategy has been integral to a business’s competitive advantage, growth, and overall performance. SMMEs that exhibit a strong entrepreneurial orientation (EO) tend to have a distinct advantage in achieving superior performance outcomes. Entrepreneurial orientation has been associated with indicators such as market share, sales volume, and profit growth. Furthermore, EO comprises key dimensions aligned with firm performance, namely innovativeness, risk-taking, and proactiveness.
An entrepreneurial mindset promotes the adoption of new technologies and encourages proactive responses to changing market trends. As a result, organisations with higher levels of entrepreneurial orientation are better positioned to compete effectively within their respective industries. It has also been argued that entrepreneurs must remain alert to emerging opportunities and possess the necessary skills to identify, create, and exploit them. Moreover, entrepreneurial orientation emphasises behaviour as the central and critical component of the entrepreneurial process.
